I Believe in Christ

I don't normally use my blog as a forum for religious expression, but I read a question today that got me thinking and wanting to share. The question, in essence, read, "How has the gospel of Jesus Christ changed the way you live your life and view the world around you?"

I should mention I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I am in love with the gospel and what it means to my life. But what came to mind when I read the question is that the gospel of Jesus Christ encourages me to look beyond myself and my personal comforts and think about how I can help others. I am not a naturally empathetic person but, hopefully little by little through the grace and mercy of God, I am changing into the woman my Heavenly Father wants and needs me to be to better serve His children. And knowing that everyone is a child of God makes me want to find the good in them and then glory in that goodness. There is so much good in the world and in people. And I am so very thankful that despite the near constant barrage of public shootings and other senseless evil, there is still so much goodness and light in society at large. Finally, the gospel of Jesus Christ brings so much peace and happiness to my life, if for no other reason than because I don't stress nearly so much about the future or about having to make major decisions. I know the Lord is there to guide and comfort and protect no matter what might happen.

So I may be just another religious nut job as I am sure many would like to think I am, but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord, because I can't fathom a life without His Light and Joy and Peace.

Thanks for reading.
