Family Portland Adventure Day

We had a family adventure to Portland today after we got the house cleaned. Mio Sushi for lunch, Moonstruck milkshakes for dessert and Powell's bookstore for fun. The kids LOVED it all, minus the driving. The milkshakes and Powell's were both firsts for them. Luca couldn't stop oohing and aahing over her shake wondering where it had been all her life. Dude couldn't quite grasp the anticipated size of the bookstore. We told him it was much bigger than the bookstore we normally go to in Salem (which is not small) to which he started asking if every sky scraper we walked past was it. Well, maybe not that big child.

Even with having to adjust his expectations it still did not fail to disappoint. We told them both they could pick out any chapter book they wanted. Matthew and I ended up finding way more books for them than they found for themselves, but they finally made choices and now they are desperate to go back.

They were great sports and wonderful children. I am so proud of them, thankful I get to be their mama, and grateful they are old enough that we are able to introduce them to the fun stuff we enjoy and have them fall in love.
